The Autism Program Upcoming Events

Illinois Neurodiversity Initiative Pilot Program

Introducing the first-ever cohort of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign students who will be receiving autism-specific supports. These supports will promote mental health, social and academic success, and employment readiness. Anticipated services will include:

  • Courses every semester to promote self-awareness and advocacy, as well as executive function and employment skills
  • Individualized weekly mental health check-ins with the Department of Psychology
  • A social accountability group
  • A mentorship program
  • A parent support group

Applications will be available for incoming first-year students who are accepted at Illinois for the fall semester of 2022. Proof of diagnosis and registration with Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) are required. Scholarships are available for this fee-based program.

I-Ready Virtual Summer Camp for College-Bound High School Students

The Autism Program (TAP) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is excited to announce new programming designed to promote the success of college students on the autism spectrum.

I-Ready Virtual Summer Camp for College-Bound High School Students
June 20-24, 2022, from 1 - 2:30 p.m. CDT
$150 Per Student (scholarships available)

Rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors on the autism spectrum are invited to apply for TAP's annual I-Ready Summer Camp. During the virtual camp, TAP will offer:

  • Informative sessions on what to expect from college life
  • Interaction with other high school students on the spectrum who are planning for college
  • University student panels
  • Strategies for submitting successful applications
  • Tips on social and academic success
  • Parent sessions on planning and preparing

Students must demonstrate the intent and academic ability to attend a competitive university program. Applications have closed.

On-Campus Visit July 8, 2022

Students who attend the virtual camp will be able to visit the Illinois campus on July 8 so that they and their families can meet other attendees in person and receive an informal campus tour.
