The Family Resiliency Center (FRC) has been awarded a Healing Illinois grant to promote thriving among staff at community nonprofit organizations through storytelling. The project will engage with local agencies to create video shorts that encourage understanding of the successes and challenges they experience.
"This project represents a needed opportunity for staff to tell the stories about their work that they want to tell in their own voices," said Jacinda Dariotis, director of FRC. "By recording and distributing these new narratives, we hope that the project facilitates healing across the local area."
In close collaboration with community partners, FRC Associate Director Nate Underland will capture and showcase narratives through digital storytelling. “Video shorts offer the potential of meaningful engagement from a variety of viewers," said Underland. "I am excited to hear about the communication needs and desires of community partners and help produce products that they find useful."
Healing Illinois is a partnership between the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Field Foundation to foster racial and community healing statewide. The award is one of 204 issued by the initiative in 2026.
